There are few things I love more as a photographer than seeing families return to me year after year. Watching little ones grow, capturing each new milestone, and celebrating the chapters of life as they unfold—it’s truly the heart of why I do what I do. Last week’s maternity lifestyle session at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach was one of those sessions that reminded me just how much joy this work brings.
This sweet family has been in front of my camera before, and it was such a gift to photograph them again—this time celebrating the exciting arrival of a new little one. The children’s laughter filled the air, their personalities shining through in every frame. There’s something so special about capturing that genuine connection between siblings and parents as they anticipate welcoming a new member of the family.
What made this maternity photoshoot even more magical was the setting. First Landing State Park is one of my favorite places for family and maternity photography. With its lush greenery, sandy pathways, and open skies, it offers the perfect backdrop for both playful and intimate moments. That evening, the sky put on its own show—rich, dramatic clouds glowing with soft evening light, wrapping the family in a scene that felt straight out of a storybook.
The combination of laughter, love, and the beauty of Virginia Beach’s natural scenery made this session unforgettable. It was everything I hope for in a lifestyle session: relaxed, joyful, and full of authentic emotion.
